Panel mount your 12mm illuminated tactile button!
I designed this board to be able to panel mount two of these cool 12mm illuminated tactile buttons. These are really cool push buttons; you can control the LED independent of the tactile action. Unfortunately, these are really hard to use on a breadboard or any 0.1" (2.54mm) perforated prototyping board. This board has two screw holes on both sides that fit M3 screws. Standoffs are not included. This module uses a MCP23008 I2C expander to read the tactile push buttons and independently control the LED. The MCP23008 works across a voltage range, so this board will work at 3V and 5V. This potentially saves you four GPIO pins. I will assemble the surface mount parts on the pcb. It is up to you to provide the tactile buttons and solder them on.
Currently Sparkfun is the only source of the illuminated version of these buttons in the USA. Sparkfun PN COM-10439 The part number is TSL12121. NOTE: CURRENTLY THIS MODULE DOES NOT INCLUDE THE 12MM TACTILE BUTTONS.
